Crop a vertical short for Shorts, TikTok, and Reels

Reframe a 9:16 picture by hand so the subject sits out of the button zones. The crop is burned into the exported MP4.

Drag the frame

Click the video on the preview and drag inside the crop window. This is a manual crop. It is not face tracking. You decide what stays in the 9:16 frame. The shaded bands show what the apps will cover after you publish.

Stock footage often arrives with the subject in a corner. Crop before you add the title, so the words and the face are both in the clear middle.

The export is the new master

Export and publish writes the crop into a new MP4 and opens it in the workspace. The address bar keeps a link to that file. Refresh brings it back. The original sample stays the sample.

A server-side center crop is not required for this path. If you do not have ffmpeg, you still reframe in the studio.
