Transitions on a short-form timeline
Fade, slide, and wipe between clips in the 9:16 studio, plus the joins available when AI footage is rendered.

After a split, the join is yours
Split a clip and the timeline can hold a transition between the two pieces. Fade, slide, and wipe are the joins the studio writes into the exported MP4. Use a short one. A long transition eats the hook.
Create with AI has its own joins while footage is rendering: shuffle, fade in, fade out, slide, and zoom. Those happen before the file reaches the studio. You can still trim the result afterward.
Most shorts do not need one
A hard cut on the voice is clearer than a wipe across a 15-second idea. Add a transition when two shots should feel connected. Skip it when you are only removing a pause.
